Anonymous asked: are skinheads a major urban tribe in boston?
Define tribe, its not how it used to be we are spread out but we all know or know of each other. There are small groups sprinkled around. We have 2 scooter clubs here The Boston Stranglers and the Reservoir God all older skins 30 and up. Back in the day there was one house and or bar where skins all hung out. That was before my time. There’s are groups of skins who free up together from other parts of the state. The largest group I know of is probably ten plus deep. Most of us all do our own thing. But you could come across a good strong gathering of us at shows you’d expect to find skins at. For a while we pretty much dominated this one venue 7 of the bouncers slash staff were skinheads. The bands in the scene from here that are recently or currently active are Razors in The Night, For The Worse(members of Toxic Narxotic), Darkbuster, Bloodstained Brindle (members of Dropkick Murphys), Skaprest, Ricky Rocksteady, The Bruisers are rumored to be reuniting. I consider our brothers to the north in New Hampshire (some of them at least) to be a part of the Boston scene because they play, promote and support it so much. they have a record label Arrest Records with bands like Yellow Sitches, Taxi Driver, Word For Word and The 86’d. They have two groups up there that run pretty deep. We used to have a ska soul reggae night called Get Smart in Boston but that died because of some beef. The thing about Boston Skins is we are all very working class. We don’t see each other as much as we would like. Most of us are to busy working, providing and trying to get educations and raising families no real youngins around these days.
So no its not like Brighton Beach England 1969 you won’t find a hoard of us. Boston is a small city.
